Kent White - The Coming Again of the Word of God

Price: £4.99 / $7.88

Quantity:

Dated 1919 and subtitled 'Return of Apostolic Faith and Works Now Due on the Earth,' this rare book was very influential in the formation of early British Pentecostalism.

Although his wife, Alma White was the leader of the American 'Pillar of Fire' work and was very hostile to Pentecostals, Kent White, joined the Pentecostals and was baptized in the Holy Spirit on July 7th, 1910. He joined the Apostolic Faith Church in Bournemouth, England and spent the next few years in Canada and the United States.

This book contains an interesting sketch of the life and ministry of Pastor William Oliver Hutchinson, the founder of the Apostolic Faith Church in Bournemouth. This is followed by White's prophetic revelations regarding the Blood of Christ, the church of the last days and the 'latter rain' outpouring that was yet to come.

Very interesting reading!

Price: £2.99 / $4.72

Quantity:

Stephen Jeffreys was a great British evangelist and older brother to the eloquent George Jeffreys. Converted during the Welsh Revival, Stephen began his ministry at Cwmtwrch near Swansea. A further visit in December extended to a seven-week mission reaping 130 converts from the small village. Thus began a dramatic ministry as a full-time itinerant evangelist which reaped thousands of souls and was confirmed by signs and wonders wherever he went.
Scores of young men caught the heavenly breeze and began to pioneer new works for God during this time of visitation. Outstanding miracles of healing occurred and a constant flow of converts were won to Christ. "One of the most far-reaching effects of his ministry was the way he seemed to trigger off so many others to follow suit, and the whole character of the British Pentecostal Movement changed." Donald Gee.

Alexander Alfred Boddy (1854-1930) was an Anglican vicar and is known as the 'father of Pentecostalism' in Great Britain.

After a religious holiness experience at the Keswick Convention in 1892 he became an Anglican vicar. After several appointments he became vicar at All Saints Church in Monkwearmouth, Sunderland. In 1899 his wife Mary experienced a healing from asthma and they believed that she had a gift for healing through the laying-on of hands. In 1904 he visited Wales during the Welsh Revival and met Evan Roberts, and the following year he travelled to Oslo, where T B Barratt was leading a Pentecostal revival. Boddy invited Barrett to his church, All Saints in Monkwearmouth, which became a centre for British Pentecostalism. From 1908 to 1914 Boddy hosted a series of Sunderland Conventions which were used to spread the Pentecostal message and impart the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

This document was penned early in the revival and has sections on Speaking in Tongues, Physical Manifestations and The Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Donald Gee - Wind and Flame

Donald Gee - Wind and Flame

Price: £3.99 / $6.30

Quantity:

The original 'Pentecostal Movement' was first written during the Second World War and gives readers a detailed account of the people, places and events that gave British Pentecostalism its influential place amongst world Pentecostal movements. Though it deals mainly with British history it frequently reflects upon personalities from other nations who played a part in the formation of Britain's Pentecostal movements.

Beginning with the Welsh Revival and the Azusa Street Outpouring, the author documents the spreading flame of Pentecost from Barratt in Sunderland, Smith Wigglesworth in Bradford and a host of other pioneers who became leaders of the fledgling Pentecostal denominations.

This book will always be a primary source for the history of British Pentecostalism. In 1966, just before his death, Gee brought the story up to date, including reference to the second-wave of the Spirit through the Charismatic Movement, when it's name changed to 'Wind and Flame.'

William Jones - A Biographical Sketch of Edward Irving

William Jones - A Biographical Sketch of Edward Irving

Price: £3.99 / $6.30

Quantity:

Edward Irving (1792-1834) is correctly regarded as the first British Pentecostal leader and the forerunner of the Pentecostal church which began in the early 20th century, some 70 years after Irving blazed its trail. This Scottish pastor, theologian and founder of the Catholic Apostolic Church in 1832, led the first Pentecostal/charismatic movement which advocated the restoration of the 5-fold ministries of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers and the availability of spiritual gifts (charismata), especially speaking in tongues (glossalalia) and prophecy. Unfortunately, resistance to his teachings on the ministry of the Spirit and his published doctrinal views on the humanity of Jesus, took its toll on his health and he died in 1834, at the age of 42 years.

Nevertheless, he was undoubtedly a man 'born out of due time' and will forever be honoured as a man who heard the voice of the Spirit and who received revelation from God regarding the true nature and function of Christ's Church.

This early biography is an excellent introduction to his life and ministry. We will be producing a more complete set of Irvings life and teachings on a single CD in 2011. 293pp.

William Booth-Clibborn - My Personal Testimony to Pentecost

William Booth-Clibborn - My Personal Testimony to Pentecost

Price: £1.99 / $3.14

Quantity:

William Booth-Clibborn was the son of General Booth's eldest daughter Catherine, the famed 'Marechal' who pioneered the Salvation Army work in France. She was married to Arthur Clibborn and, at the General's insistence, changed their name by deed poll to Booth-Clibborn.

Their outstanding evangelistic success in France and later in Switzerland and other countries obviously made a deep impression on young William who became an active evangelist in his mid-teens.

It was his Pentecostal experience that caused him to leave the Salvation and join the growing Pentecostal movement in the UK with George Jeffreys and others. This is his personal testimony of the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Alexander Boddy - Pleading the Blood

Alexander Boddy - Pleading the Blood

Price: £1.99 / $3.14

Quantity:

This interesting booklet was issued to emphasize the 'right pleading of the Precious Blood.' Always keen to be Scriptural and Apostolic in his teachings Boddy attempted to avoid some of the extreme practices and doctrines which plagued early Pentecostalism. His balanced ministry enabled the virgin movement to maintain doctrinal purity and orthodoxy.

He speaks against the repetative use of the word 'Blood' and advocates the true pleading of the precious blood is not by 'swift repetition' but by 'reverent and adoring faith.'

Price: £4.99 / $7.88

Quantity:

This is the fifth of these massive tomes which contain the main teachings of Edward Irving, the first truly Pentecostal minister in the United Kingdom.

This particular volume of 566 pages is especially valuable as it records Irvings revelation on the doctrine of the Incarnation, for which he was seriously criticised and accused of heresy. (Thankfully, he has been exonerated on this matter in more recent years). In addition, there is a sizeable section on the church's endowment of holiness and power and a closing section on the gifts of the Holy Spirit. these are probably the earliest examples of systematic teaching on this subject that are available today.
