This is the official report of the International Conference on Holiness and Healing, held in the Agricultural Hall, Islington, London, England, in early June, 1885 under the leadership of William Boardman and A. B. Simpson. Many historians acknowledge that the present Pentecostal movement was first initiated in this conference. Some reports acknowledge that as many as 2000 leaders converged on London from all over the world to discover that divine healing is the "children's bread."These are the actual teaching notes given at the conference June 1-5 1885. 368 pagesAlexander Dowie and others pointed to this London conference as the seed-bed for the healing movement they enjoyed. A year later, in 1896, he founded the Christian Catholic Apostolic Church in Zion, Illinois, USA which became a famous place for healing.

His teaching on healing laid a great foundation for the new spirit-filled churches to build on. This particular 20 page pamphlet is a scanned facsimile of the original and offers sound counsel to those who find themselves subject to sickness. The writer was a local church pastor who worked on the evangelism team of Stephen Jeffreys, the famous British evangelist who saw hundreds healed by prayer and multitudes converted to Christ. Jeffreys was the older brotherof the eloquent George Jeffreys. Converted during the Welsh Revival, he began his ministry at Cwmtwrch near Swansea. A further visit in December extended to a seven-week mission reaping 130 converts from the small village. Thus began a dramatic ministry as a full-time itinerant evangelist which reaped thousands of souls and was confirmed by signs and wonders wherever he went. This book records many powerful miracles of this ministry and spends an entire chapter on the 'vision' that was seen by the crowd on a wall behind Jeffreys as he preached.

This gave her access to a wide circulation of Christian readers interested in the message of healing. This volume was a bound copy of her own magazine, Thy Healer, for the year 1885 and contains articles by herself and other famous healing ministry pioneers like Carrie Judd (later Montgomery), A. B. Simpson and W. E. Boardman. There is also included a report on the International Healing and Holiness Convention held in London in 1885 which paved the way for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the Pentecostal Movement. Lillian Yeoman's developed a remarkable healing ministry after experiencing Divine healing at one of John Alexander Dowie's healing homes. Following her parent's footsteps she became a medical doctor but began to take morphine to help cope with the stress of the work. She became hopelessly addicted. Baptised by Dowie in 1898 she became immersed in the Bible's teaching on healing. Subsequently she became a missionary to the Cree Indians and exercised a powerful healing ministry for many years.

A.J. Gordon (1836-1895) came to prominence in the United States as the pastor of Clarendon Street Baptist Church in Boston for over 25 years. Under Gordon's leadership this church was described as "one of the most spiritual and aggressive in America". He became a favourite speaker in Dwight L. Moody's Northfield conventions and was a close friend of other famous evangelicals like A.B. Simpson, A.T. Pierson and R.A. Torrey.He was a prolific writer but is most remembered for this book, The Ministry of Healing, which has been a much loved text book on the subject for more than a century.
