nine other pen sketches of 18th century divines. They were published
as 'Christian Leaders of the Last Century.'
Daniel Rowlands - Wales has produced some great preachers over the centuries and this man ranks as one of the most effective of them all. Initially an unconverted minister he was provoked by the effects of his own preaching! When he was converted his preaching turned many to the Lord. Together with the ministries Howell Harris, George Whitefield and others, the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Church was born. John Wesley - In the light of Ryle's Calvinistic theological emphasis, his generous and godly attitude to the Arminian Wesley is a joy to read. May more in our day adopt such a godly attitude to servants of God who hold differing doctrinal viewpoints. |
