Across the globe today there is a growing cry to God for a fresh outpouring of revival power. There are very few live churches in the Western world that do not have this hope in their hearts and on their prayer agendas. They are saying that what they are currently experiencing is so weak and anaemic, so shallow and ineffective that they need a new season of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.
They have heard of times in the past when God visited His people and restored their fortunes. They are excited by the possibility of a fresh wind of God’s Spirit in the church. Many are developing a holy passion, even a desperation, for God to come down from heaven and establish His Kingdom amongst men. They are jealous for His name and His fame. Their appetites have been whetted and they are spoiled for anything less. But what can they do? What steps can they take? What is an appropriate response to the need of this hour? What does God want us to do?
Well, one thing we can do is look at revival history, which God himself encourages us to do. Psalm 145:4-6 'One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. They will speak of the glorious splendour of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works. They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds.'
This site exists to encourage you to look to the men and movements of the past who have witnessed powerful visitations of God and became carriers of His fire.
You will see how our mighty God reached into the lives of ordinary people like us – despite their weaknesses, fears and failings – and equipped them to become shafts of light that dispelled the darkness in their generation. They were ordinary people who experienced an extraordinary God.
These stories of people who saw God work will excite your heart, fuel your passion, stimulate your prayer life and motivate you to employ the same things that enabled our forefathers to catch the wind of heaven. They will reveal the principles and practices that can unleash God’s blessing upon our world.
Let it be, O Lord
